During a 120-minute Shiatsu session you'll remain comfortably clothed while the therapist uses thumbs, palms, elbows and gentle stretches along meridians. Expect focused work on chronic areas, breathing guidance, periodic assessment and a profound sense of release and relaxation.
Yes. First-time clients are welcome; we begin with a consultation to review health history and tailor pressure levels. The extended time allows careful assessment, gradual work on chronic issues, and a thorough restoring treatment for beginners.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing and avoid heavy meals immediately beforehand. Hydrate well, arrive a few minutes early for intake, and inform your therapist about any injuries, medications, or areas of sensitivity before treatment begins.
Shiatsu can produce deep sensations as pressure releases tension, but it should not be intolerably painful. Therapists adjust intensity to your comfort; communicate during the session to modify pressure. Mild soreness afterwards is normal and typically subsides within a day or two.
Shiatsu is not recommended for acute infections, uncontrolled high blood pressure, recent surgeries, deep vein thrombosis, or certain cardiac conditions. Pregnancy and chronic illness require prior physician approval and therapist adjustments. Always disclose your full medical history.
Frequency depends on goals: for chronic tension, weekly or biweekly sessions for the first month often yield best results. For maintenance and stress relief, monthly sessions are effective. Your therapist will recommend a personalized plan based on progress.
